- Only for the wealthy and exclusive?
- Rigid rules of etiquette and dance lessons?
- A "dated" practice that is not necessary today?

A "modern debutante" required for our program is a young lady chosen before she starts her senior year of high school to participate in an opportunity that will help her acquire vital social, civic, and professional skills that will help her grow socially as well as personally.
The Modern Debutante Program starts with applications and nominations sent to our program of various young ladies throughout the Northeast of the United States, completing their Junior Year of high school who possesses the following criteria:
- Current overall GPA of 2.5 or higher
- A time commitment of five hours per month during the months of September, November, January, March and May, to be able to attend classes and activities on etiquette, leadership and ballroom dance as well as meetings on event planning and fundraising duties.
- Available to mentor a "junior debutante" during program season.
- Must be able to invite a male partner interested in ballroom dancing and dining etiquette lessons.
